SENNEN COVE & WHITESANDS BAY

Sennen Cove has all the charm of a traditional Cornish village, complete with a lifeboat station, working harbour, gallery, restaurants, pubs and cafés. And with over 3,000 miles of Atlantic Ocean on your doorstep, it’s a great place for swimming, body or paddle-boarding and kayaking. It’s also one of best surfing spots in the UK with two surf schools for those keen to learn how to catch the perfect wave.

Whitesands Bay is an award-winning beach with excellent water quality, and almost a mile of golden sand. There is a lifeguard presence from April to October. As the UK’s most westerly beach, the sunsets are stunning… you may even catch a glimpse of the seals and dolphins that visit.

SOUTH WEST COAST PATH

The South West Coast Path around Sennen and Land’s End has some of the most spectacular countryside, geology and wildlife in the UK. As an Area of Oustanding Beauty, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes with views of the dramatic coastline to explore.

PENZANCE, NEWLYN, ST IVES AND PORTHCURNO

Just 8 miles away, Penzance offers excellent pubs and restaurants, a good variety of high-street shops and supermarkets. The celebrated art-deco Jubilee Pool has been refurbished and will reopen this summer with a new geothermal section.

Newlyn’s bustling fish market is worth a visit before exploring the town’s local art studios and galleries. The recently opened Newlyn Filmhouse is a perfect place to escape the occasional rainy afternoon.

St Ives is 16 miles away and can be reached by bus from Sennen or by train from St Erth. Packed with shops, restaurants and galleries – including Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden – it attracts visitors and tourists throughout the summer.

On the cliffs to the west of Porthcurno is the world famous Minack Theatre with superb views across Porthcurno Bay to Lizard Point, Britain’s most southerly place.
